I've called this a 'demo' because this level was only put together to showcase a railgun firing Spider Demon. This level consists of one area, all you have to do is kill the spider. I haven't bothered refining the texture use or alignment, so texture-wise, this wad is a bit rough around the edges. I haven't used this spider in a larger level because it dies too quickly. It's railgun beam passes straight through anything in it's way. Thus, with only one shot the spider can hit multiple targets and suddenly find itself besieged by a number of pissed off monsters. Under these conditions the spider won't last long and there's not much of a challenge for the player. In order to get the railbeam firing from the right height (so that the beam appears to fire from the spiders gun), I've had to reduce the spiders height (in dehacked) by a small ammount. This means that any shots directed at the very top of the spiders head may pass through without harming it. So aim your fire at the center of the spider and you'll be fine. There seems to be a limit to the number of 'railbeam particles' that can be on the screen at any one time. When the spider is firing multiple beams, some of the beams will appear graphically incomplete. However, when you're running around trying to survive this isn't really that noticable and has little or no effect on gameplay. -Russell Pearson (28th January 2004) email: rddp@duellist.net
